THE TWO PUZZLES FOR CONTEST #1 ARE BELOW

CONTEST RULES:

Contest #1 consists of two puzzles. A second contest will be forthcoming depending on the success or failure of this one. Each contest has a prize of $50 USD.
The winner of Contest #1 will be the first person to "solve" both puzzles by correctly identifying the genus and species of the large palm(s) in each puzzle. Any smaller understory palms in the puzzles should be ignored. (Misspellings will be allowed)
Submit your answers to the puzzles by posting in the designated area below.
You must be registered on Palmpedia in order to post your answer. While registration only takes a minute, final confirmation and authorization may take 24 hours, so register now if you wish to play. (Top right hand corner to register)
Beginning March 18, several pieces will be removed from each puzzle daily, until both puzzles are solved. The pieces will be removed at random times, so no time zone will have an advantage. Some pieces have already been removed. Please refrain from any answers until the contest begins.
Only one guess per 24 hours is allowed. Any others will be invalid.
There will be no notification if only one puzzle is solved correctly.
