Comments and Curiosities
"I have admired this palm for over 20 years. It is located in a neighborhood across Lake Rowena from Leu Gardens. It is a nice, slender, solitaire Phoenix hybrid. It has never suckered, always has a full crown of fronds and has really not grown much taller. It is impossible to tell what the parentage is, maybe even a hybrid crossed with another hybrid. To my eye it looks to at least have P. roebelenii and P. sylvestris in it. The bright orange petioles are nice!" (Eric S., Botanist H.P. Leu Gardens, Orlando, FL)
