Description

Stems solitary or clustered, to 10 m tall, and 15 cm in diameter. Leaves 6-12 in a crown; blade split into about 60 leaflets, these to 4.5 cm wide. Fruits ellipsoid-oblong, 2-2.5 cm long and 1.8-2 cm in diameter, reddish brown. (trebrown.com) Editing by edric.

Comments and Curiosities

This is a dioecious genus.

Uses: The wood is used in housing construction for walls and ceilings. The leaves are used for roofing houses. As posts for fencing. Oil is extracted from the fruit. (From the Spanish)
