Habitat and Distribution
Areca hutchinsoniana is found in primary forests at low altitudes in Lanoa and Zamboanga Provinces in Mindanao, and in Basilan. Considered an endemic species of the Philippines.Description
Areca hutchinsoniana is a slender, medium sized, solitary Areca to about 4m tall, with a slightly bulging crownshaft, and attractive, dark green leaves, with a stem about 15 centimeters in diameter. Leaves are about a meter long. Fruits are narrowly ellipsoid-oblong or subfusiform, about 3 centimeters long and 9 millimeters in diameter. Editing by edric.

Prefers a warm, sheltered, and moist position.

Uses: Parts utilized, Buds, Folkloric: Raw terminal bud given to children as vermifuge.
