Talk:HO'OMALUHIA GARDEN - ON THE ISLAND OF OAHU, HAWAII

Congrats Matty, You definitely have the hang of it. There are ways to arrange the pics so that they could follow the text better as we walk around the garden. I will work on it. Others will have more pics, and can then add to the framework. There are quite a few on the Forum that I'm sure the photographers would grant permission to use, or even post themselves. Wouldn't it be cool to have bitchin' pictorials or tours of all the major botanical gardens? When we get a format, I'll contact Carlo. He may want to display his Canary Island Palmatum. And then Nong Nooch. And then............. I am researching the best way to display this Garden Pictorial section. There is even a way to add an audio file. Maybe you could click on an audio, and then as the audio plays.........."and here, as you click on photo #33 you will see a blah, blah, blah, blah." In that case, we could lock the page so it wouldn't get out of sync with the audio. What do you think? Also, notice the designation "talk" on this page --- "Editing Talk." And the + sign. This is a way to add topics to a discussion, like a forum. So people can discuss any page the view. There are many of these "talk" pages around, including your personal one. I haven't done it yet, but I think you can "watch list" any page so you will be notified of changes made. Especially usefull I would imagine for the Talk pages.

Also, please see the discussion page for A.guppyana.

Yeah, I took my name and the date off of the Ho'omaluhia so that it's a tour of the garden that anyone can continue to add too. That way I guess it can just grow indefinately.

Hope you don't mind the help.

Matty, I went ahead and used that format I came up with, and tweaked a few things. Check the markup and you can see how easy it is. I hope that's acceptable. If not, remember you can crank it back to any previous page. Just check 'History.' BTW --- I think you should give yourself credit for each photo that's yours. dypsisdean 14:20, 27 April 2007 (PDT)

  • Matt, I hope you don't mind. I am going to move your credits to the main photo page where I have been listing the details for all the others pics. To list that info under the thumbnails (IMO) gets to be 'too much.' If you fill in the description when you upload, that is where it will end up. I have been putting the detailed location, garden, and photographer there, and just keeping the thumbs simple. dypsisdean 02:26, 30 April 2007 (PDT)

Wal, Glad you made it.

These are the pages that serve as the interactive part of the software. Then by "watching" (click 'watch this page' or the watch tab) these pages, you can keep track very easily at "my watch list" (at top), and see a notice with a clickable link anytime any response or edit is added to that page. Everything seems so new and different at first, but after a few weeks with this you begin to see the incredible potential it has.

Please try to get some great pics at Byron Bay when you're there. I would be more than happy to assist you in uploading them to Palmpedia for the first time to make sure the quality is preserved. There may even be a way to link to them there (instead of Photo Bucket or the like) for posting on the Forum as well. I'll check that out. dypsisdean 16:29, 27 April 2007 (PDT)

DeanO, I like your format. I'll check the script and learn how to do that. MattyB
