Description

A medium-sized palm from low elevation rainforests in northwestern Brazil with slender, smooth, clustering or solitary stems to 8 m (27 ft.) tall. It is a fast growing and very ornamental palm adapted to humid tropical climates. (RPS.com) Editing by edric.

A beverage ("wine") is made from the fruits of the chiquichique (Leopoldinia piassaba), the moriche or canangucha (Mauritia minor) the bacaba (Oenocarpus bacaba), and the bacabiña or milpesillo (Oenocarpus minor). (Dugand, A. 1961)/Palmweb.
