Cycad Flushing. This is a time lapse sequence I took over 40 days, beginning 01/11/2010. I started after the plant had started it's flush so I missed the beginning, but the pictures were taken at one hour intervals starting at 8am everyday, and ending at 5pm. The distortion in some of the shots is due to some rainy days we had during the sequence. The movement of the leaves is primarily due to the plant growth and reaction to light, not the wind as this cycad is mostly protected. Pretty wild how much the leaves move, almost has a pulse later on in the flush. It's more open in the morning, and closes up later in the afternoon.
